Colorado’s Parent CNA Program allows a parent or family member to become a paid caregiver for their children, provided they meet eligibility requirements.

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) assists patients with daily activities (ADLs) and provides primary care, including help with transferring, bathing, and personal hygiene. The Parent CNA home care program is overseen by a registered nurse to ensure quality care.

To qualify for the Parent CNA Program, follow these steps:

  • Eligibility for Health First Colorado: Your child must qualify for Colorado Medicaid. To check eligibility, visit the Colorado Peak website or call the contact center at 1‐800‐221‐3943, Monday ‐ Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
  • Pediatric Assessment: A nurse will visit your home to complete a Pediatric Assessment Tool with your child if they are under the age of 21. This assessment will determine if your child qualifies for the Parent CNA program.
